U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has apprehended a high-ranking member of the MS-13 gang in Omaha, Nebraska. The individual was listed among El Salvador's top 100 most wanted fugitives and is sought for multiple serious crimes, including aggravated homicide and terrorist organization affiliation.

The operation also led to the arrest of Rene Saul Escobar Ochoa, an associate residing with the fugitive. Escobar Ochoa is a known MS-13 gang member accused of ordering various criminal activities such as homicides and drug trafficking in El Salvador.

ICE acting Director Todd M. Lyons emphasized the importance of non-interference during federal operations: "When ICE agents move in to make an arrest, it is extremely important that the public not interfere." He warned about misinformation potentially leading to dangerous situations.

Mark Zito, HSI Kansas City Special Agent in Charge, highlighted the threat posed by these individuals to local communities: "These illegal aliens didn’t just sneak into our country; they brought with them a legacy of violence, terror and death."

The arrests were part of a targeted enforcement action carried out without incident. The ongoing investigation involves HSI, ICE’s Enforcement Removal Operations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

"Our ICE officers and agents are protecting your neighborhoods," said Lyons, urging public support for their efforts.
