David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, has announced the sentencing of Joshuwua Diaz, a 34-year-old resident of Bridgeport. Diaz was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for narcotics trafficking. U.S. District Judge Vernon D. Oliver delivered the sentence in Hartford.

Court documents and statements reveal that Diaz was arrested on February 16, 2024, after a search of his New Haven apartment uncovered approximately 75 grams of fentanyl, 278 grams of cocaine, 47 grams of crack cocaine, and a loaded P80 handgun without a serial number.

Diaz pleaded guilty on February 11, 2025, to possession with intent to distribute cocaine, crack cocaine, and fentanyl. He is currently released on a $50,000 bond and must report to prison by September 10.

Previously in April 2013, Diaz was sentenced to 78 months in prison for heroin distribution.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration New Haven Task Force. This task force includes members from various agencies including the DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, IRS Criminal Investigation Division, Connecticut State Police and several local police departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan J. Keefe prosecuted the case.
