Salvadoran national sentenced for illegal re-entry into United States

JOSE ALFREDO JIMENEZ-CENTENO, a 72-year-old citizen of El Salvador, was sentenced by United States District Judge Brandon S. Long on June 24, 2025. JIMENEZ-CENTENO had previously pleaded guilty to the illegal re-entry of a removed alien, which violates Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a). He received a sentence of time served and was ordered to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

Court documents reveal that JIMENEZ-CENTENO re-entered the United States after being deported on August 20, 1996. He pled guilty to the entire indictment against him.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the efforts of the United States Customs and Border Protection. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rachal Cassagne from the Narcotics Unit and Jon Maestri from the General Crimes Unit.
