The United States and the Republic of Korea (ROK) held Director-General-level consultations in Seoul on July 10-11, 2025. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kevin Kim led the U.S. delegation, while ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director-General for North American Affairs Hong Jeepio headed the ROK delegation. Key foreign affairs and defense officials from both countries participated.
During the consultations, discussions focused on strengthening the U.S.-ROK Alliance into a future-oriented, comprehensive strategic alliance. Both sides emphasized modernizing the Alliance to ensure mutual benefits amid an evolving regional security environment.
