U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 20 individuals identified as illegal aliens during a worksite compliance inspection at Alba Wines and Spirits Warehousing and Distribution in Edison, New Jersey, on July 8. The operation was conducted jointly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The inspection involved more than 100 people, out of which 20 were identified as illegal aliens originating from various South American countries. Among them, five have been issued final orders of removal by an immigration judge.
CBP has the authority to perform unannounced inspections at customs freight stations and bonded warehouses to ensure adherence to CBP protocols for cargo entering the United States. ICE Homeland Security Investigations conducts worksite enforcement nationwide to verify that businesses comply with immigration and employment laws.
During such inspections, any alien found violating U.S. immigration laws may face arrest, detention, and potential removal if subject to a final order.
The public is encouraged to report suspected immigration violations or related criminal activity through the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or submit information online via the ICE Tip Form.
