LAREDO, Texas - Officers from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Field Operations at the Laredo Port of Entry have seized cocaine valued at over $996,000. The incident took place on July 14 at the World Trade Bridge when a CBP officer directed a 2015 tractor trailer carrying frozen raspberries for further inspection. During this secondary inspection, officers found 32 packages containing 74.6 pounds of alleged cocaine hidden within the trailer’s batteries.
Port Director Alberto Flores stated, “The unwavering commitment and sharp instincts of our frontline CBP officers contributed to a remarkable seizure.” He added that this event highlights the dedication of CBP officers in securing borders.
The narcotics and tractor were confiscated by CBP, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents are currently looking into the matter.
