U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Edwuin Rogelio Lozano, a 46-year-old Colombian citizen, pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Following his plea, Lozano was sentenced to time served and handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Fauzia K. Mattingly stated that Lozano is an alien without legal status in the United States. He was removed from the country in December 2020 following an order of removal. On April 6, 2025, Lozano was found in Erie County as a passenger in a vehicle encountered by Department of Homeland Security agents at a local hotel. He admitted to being illegally present in the United States.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, which utilizes resources from the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime.
The investigation was conducted by U.S. Border Patrol under the direction of Patrol Agent in Charge Martin B. Coombs.
