Hamburg man arrested for threatening congress member

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the arrest of Gerald T. Przybylski, 78, from Hamburg, NY. Przybylski faces charges for transmitting threats via the internet against a member of Congress. The charges carry a potential sentence of up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly is handling the case. According to the complaint, on June 13, 2025, Przybylski sent an email threatening a United States House Representative. The email included statements about executing former President Trump and his supporters and suggested that the recipient should fear for their life. Przybylski admitted to law enforcement that he was likely trying to scare the individual.

Przybylski appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and was released under certain conditions.

The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Erie County Sheriff’s Office led by Sheriff John Garcia, the United States Secret Service with Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Charles Perras, the FBI with Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Mark Grimm, and the United States Capitol Police headed by Chief Michael Sullivan.

It is important to note that being charged with a crime is not proof of guilt; Przybylski remains innocent until proven otherwise in court.
