A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has indicted Victor Manuel Sanchez-Chacon, a 31-year-old undocumented Mexican national living in Taylorsville, Utah. He faces charges related to sex trafficking a minor, producing child pornography, and various drug and firearm offenses.
Sanchez-Chacon, also known as "Speedy," was previously detained by a U.S. Magistrate Judge. Court documents indicate that he allegedly enticed a minor into sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of creating child sexual abuse material between August 27 and September 1, 2023. Additionally, from October 25, 2023, he is accused of recruiting a minor for commercial sex acts.
Between August and December 2024, an investigation by the South Valley Special Enforcement Team (SET) identified Sanchez-Chacon as involved in narcotics trafficking to juveniles at high schools in the Salt Lake Valley area. A traffic stop on May 15, 2025, led to his arrest after drugs were found in his vehicle. Further searches uncovered firearms and body armor at his residence. An ICE records check showed he lacks valid immigration documents.
The charges against him include possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of firearms as an alien, production of child pornography, and sex trafficking of a minor. His initial court appearance is set for July 21 at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse.
Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti announced the indictment. The case is under investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies including SET and Homeland Security Investigations.
Assistant United States Attorney Carol A. Dain will prosecute the case under Operation Take Back America and Project Safe Childhood initiatives aimed at combating illegal immigration and child exploitation respectively.
"An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
