On July 16, 2025, a significant event took place in Washington, D.C., as Mora Namdar, Senior Bureau Official for Near Eastern Affairs, hosted a ceremony to mark the United Kingdom's accession to the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA). The event was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the United States, and Lucy Ferguson, the United Kingdom’s acting Deputy Head of Mission to the United States.
A joint statement was released by the Governments of the United States of America, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the United Kingdom. It highlighted that "The United States, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the United Kingdom are pleased to mark the United Kingdom’s accession to the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), a framework aimed at fostering broader integration in the Middle East."
C-SIPA is intended to bolster mutual deterrence against external threats while expanding cooperation for security and prosperity in the region. The agreement builds upon previous frameworks like the Abraham Accords signed in September 2020 during President Trump's administration. These accords have laid groundwork for closer ties among countries seeking peace and prosperity in and outside of the Middle East.
The three nations involved reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation under C-SIPA's core pillars: defense and security; economic, commercial, and trade; as well as science, technology, and network security. "Today we celebrate the United Kingdom’s accession as a third party to C-SIPA," stated officials from these governments.
In alignment with C-SIPA's objectives, working groups will be launched to promote strategic cooperation aiming towards greater regional stability and technological innovation in the Middle East.
