U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Jose Manuel Ramos-Godoy, a 42-year-old citizen of Honduras, has pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry into the United States. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr., who sentenced Ramos-Godoy to three months in federal prison.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Fauzia K. Mattingly stated that Ramos-Godoy is an alien without legal status in the United States. He had been removed from the country in July 2006 and September 2014 following an order of removal. On May 13, 2025, he was found driving a vehicle in a hotel parking lot in Amherst, NY, Erie County, without any documents permitting him lawful presence in the U.S.
This case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations to protect communities from violent crime.
The investigation leading to this plea and sentencing was conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol under the direction of Patrol Agent in Charge Martin B. Coombs.
