Clarence man charged with online enticement of a minor

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the arrest and charging of Daniel Gregory, 33, from Clarence, NY, for online enticement of a minor. The charge carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and could lead to a life sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan K. Glaberson is handling the case. According to the complaint, on January 6, 2025, North Tonawanda Police discovered that someone named “Daniel Gregory” was messaging Facebook users with inappropriate inquiries about teenagers. Detectives linked these messages to Gregory.

On January 9, an undercover officer created a fake Facebook profile named “Alexis Jones” and sent Gregory a friend request, which he accepted. Subsequently, Gregory began sending messages and attempted video calls with "Alexis Jones," believing she was 12 years old. He also sent explicit photos and tried to arrange meetings.

Gregory planned to meet “Alexis Jones” on February 3 at an apartment in Tonawanda for sexual activity but was arrested by detectives upon arrival. His cell phone was seized.

In May 2019, Gregory was convicted of Harassment in the 2nd Degree for contacting a minor on social media over two years in Cheektowaga Town Court.

Gregory appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy and remains in New York State custody. He faces additional charges of attempted rape in Niagara County related to this case.

The investigation involved the North Tonawanda Police Department under Chief Keith Glass and Homeland Security Investigations led by Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.

It is important to note that charges are accusations and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
