An indictment was unsealed today in the District of Columbia, charging a Maryland resident with several offenses related to threats against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The charges include influencing a federal official by threatening a family member, interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure, and anonymous telecommunications harassment.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Chief Michael G. Sullivan of the United States Capitol Police announced the indictment.

Seth Jason from Edgewater, Maryland, was apprehended by U.S. Capitol Police and Anne Arundel Police Department on July 17, 2025. He is scheduled for an initial appearance before a magistrate judge in U.S. District Court this afternoon.

The indictment reveals that between October 11, 2023, and January 21, 2025, Jason allegedly made threatening calls to Rep. Greene's offices in Dalton and Rome. Investigations showed that these calls originated from various phone lines associated with Voice of America headquarters where Jason was employed.

In total, eight calls were made over fifteen months during which Jason allegedly threatened the use of firearms against Rep. Greene, her staff, and their families.

The allegations remain as charges until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If convicted of influencing a federal official by threat or threatening a family member, the maximum penalty could be ten years imprisonment; five years for interstate communications with a threat; and two years for anonymous telecommunications harassment.

The investigation was led by U.S. Capitol Police and State Department Office of Inspector General with support from U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland and Anne Arundel Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Travis Wolf and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan Horan are prosecuting the case.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
