Prague man sentenced for arson and illegal firearm possession

Clinton J. Johnson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma

Today, U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell sentenced Henry Joseph Arthur, Jr., 52, to 120 months in prison for arson and illegal firearm possession. Arthur will also serve five years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

In April 2023, Arthur devised a plan to burn down his ex-girlfriend's home. Surveillance and GPS data confirmed his responsibility for the fire that destroyed the house. While on pretrial bond, Arthur violated its terms by failing to participate in a court-ordered substance abuse program. A warrant was issued for his arrest, during which U.S. Marshals found him illegally possessing a loaded handgun.

Court records indicate that Arthur has been previously convicted of 19 felonies, including violations of protective orders and domestic assault.

Arthur remains in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

The investigation involved multiple agencies: the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Creek County Sheriff’s Office; and the Kellyville Fire Department. The U.S. Marshal Service assisted in Arthur’s arrest, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Niko Boulieris prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through community collaboration and strategic enforcement priorities.
