Buffalo man charged with gun possession after police operation

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the arrest of Aden Ibrahim, 29, from Buffalo, NY. Ibrahim faces charges for being a felon in possession of ammunition, which could lead to a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch explained that on July 9, 2025, Buffalo Police responded to a report at a Woodette Place residence about an "Unwelcomed Guest." The complainant identified the individual as "Beano," who allegedly had crack cocaine and a firearm. Officers found "Beano" trying to flee and identified him as Aden Ibrahim through his U.S. Permanent Resident Card. Detectives found a revolver with tape on the handle in plain view inside the residence.

A search warrant led to the seizure of a revolver, ammunition, approximately 26 grams of suspected crack cocaine base, and drug paraphernalia. Due to previous felony convictions in March 2022 and January 2024, Ibrahim is prohibited from possessing ammunition.

Ibrahim appeared before U.S. District Judge Michael J. Romer and was detained.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.

The investigation involved collaboration between the Buffalo Police Department under Commissioner Alphonso Wright and Homeland Security Investigations led by Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.

It is important to note that charges are accusations and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
