Two Texas men appeared in U.S. District Court in Seattle on July 17, 2025, charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller announced the charges against Ahmon Hogg, 22, and Seth Coles-Body, 23. The pair is accused of being part of a nationwide robbery ring targeting ATMs by assaulting and threatening technicians.
The scheme involved disabling ATM machines with a glue-like substance. When technicians arrived to repair the machines, they were threatened to hand over cash containers known as cassettes. In December 2024, the suspects allegedly targeted Bank of America ATMs in Renton and Vancouver, Washington. In one incident, two men brandished a screwdriver at a technician but failed to obtain any cash after a scuffle.
Surveillance footage captured images of the suspects' vehicle and clothing during these incidents. The following day in Vancouver, two men reportedly stole five cash cassettes from another ATM after shoving aside a technician.
Authorities linked Hogg and Coles-Body to similar ATM tampering cases in Phoenix, Arizona on January 3, 2025. Surveillance was set up by the FBI after discovering tampered ATMs belonging to Bank of America and Wells Fargo.
On March 7, 2025, another robbery occurred at a Bank of America ATM in Redmond, Washington. Two robbers stole cash canisters filled with money from an open machine before fleeing.
Coles-Body was later stopped by U.S. Border Patrol while attempting to travel into Mexico with approximately $209,000 in cash which was seized.
A criminal complaint led to their arrest on July 2nd during a traffic stop in Mississippi where stolen firearms were found in their car. They initially appeared in Jackson Mississippi federal court on July 3rd before being transported back to Seattle for further proceedings.
Conspiracy charges carry penalties up to five years imprisonment; however all charges remain allegations until proven otherwise beyond reasonable doubt within court proceedings.
The investigation is being conducted by both FBI agents alongside members from Columbia River Organized Crime Task Force under prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Amanda McDowell.
