Semaj Markes Leondre Figg, a 33-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has been sentenced to five years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. The sentence is for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine base, commonly known as "crack."
Court documents reveal that on February 9, 2024, law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire at an 11th Avenue residence in Huntington. Figg was arrested on an outstanding warrant during the response. A search warrant executed at the residence led to the seizure of approximately 30 grams of crack, 54 grams of fentanyl, a Glock 22C pistol, and a Ruger-5.7 pistol. Figg admitted his intention to sell the controlled substances.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, who praised the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Huntington Police Department.
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers handed down the sentence while Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), an initiative aimed at reducing synthetic opioid supply in high-impact areas.
