Two men from Nashville, Tennessee, Markwez Wynn and Stephen Hampton, have been sentenced for a series of bank robberies across Tennessee, Indiana, and Kentucky. U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell handed down the sentences on Friday: 65 months for Wynn and 60 months for Hampton.
According to plea agreements, the robberies took place between May 2023 and May 2024. Wynn was involved in four robberies, while Hampton participated in three. During one robbery in Nashville, Wynn threatened a teller's life if an alarm was triggered. In two instances, Hampton served as the getaway driver while Wynn accessed vaults wearing disguises. The pair stole $81,500 and $109,500 in cash during these heists.
The final robbery occurred on May 21, 2024, at Forcht Bank in Lexington. Both men wore masks and ordered everyone to raise their hands before accessing the vaults and taking money from tellers as well as the vault itself. They left with $181,175 in cash.
Wynn must forfeit $84,268 in cash and pay $376,785 in restitution; Hampton must forfeit $82,037 in cash and pay $372,175 in restitution.
Under federal law mandates that both men serve at least 85 percent of their prison terms before being eligible for release under supervision by the U.S. Probation Office for three years thereafter.
