The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently hosted the 2025 Quality Conference on July 1-2. The event brought together healthcare leaders, clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates from across the United States. This year's theme was "Make American Healthy: Improving Health Outcomes Through Prevention, Quality, and Safety." Discussions focused on strategies to reduce harm, improve outcomes, and modernize care delivery.
CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, along with senior agency officials, led conversations about applying data effectively, enhancing system accountability, and scaling proven interventions to create a safer and more efficient healthcare system. Key topics included the use of digital tools, transparency in performance measurement, and incentives aligned to drive value.
Updates were shared regarding the 13th Scope of Work for the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Program. This program provides technical assistance to providers serving over 68 million Medicare beneficiaries. The updated scope emphasizes reducing avoidable harm, improving emergency preparedness, achieving better outcomes in behavioral health and chronic disease management, enhancing care coordination, stabilizing the workforce, and expanding digital quality measures.
The Quality Conference continues to be a national platform for evidence-based collaboration aimed at improving care and reducing burdens within the healthcare system.
