Duvall highlighted Dr. Callahan's background, noting her direct involvement in trade agreements and efforts to reduce technical barriers and tariffs. He remarked, "As someone who has come through the ranks and worked directly on trade agreements...Julie will hit the ground running." Her previous roles in the Foreign Agricultural Service at USDA and FDA were also noted as valuable experiences that would inform her work.
Duvall concluded by expressing hope for a quick Senate confirmation process, stating, "We look forward to a swift Senate confirmation process so that Dr. Callahan can be fully empowered to contribute to U.S. trade strategy during these volatile times."
