Carle Miranda Blum, a 51-year-old deputy with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, has been arrested following a federal complaint. The charges against her include receipt and production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors.
The complaint states that Blum received videos and images of a 17-year-old victim engaged in sexually explicit conduct. It is alleged that in the spring of 2025, Blum traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, where she recorded herself engaging in sex acts with the minor.
The charge for producing visual depictions carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and can go up to 30 years. The charge for receiving such depictions has a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years and can extend up to 20 years. Sentences are determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
United States Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne and FBI Miami Special Agent Brett D. Skiles announced the arrest. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation, while the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia and FBI Atlanta helped with Blum's apprehension.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ilana R. Malkin and Major Crimes Deputy Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Astigarraga are prosecuting this case.
It is important to note that a criminal complaint is an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
