Two men from Keokuk, Iowa, have been sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. In July 2024, authorities discovered 28 pounds of methamphetamine in the trunk of Ronald Dickey Mason’s vehicle along with a firearm. Both individuals later pleaded guilty to charges related to drug distribution. In March 2025, a jury found Ronald Dickey Mason guilty of carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
On July 22, 2025, Ronald Dickey Mason was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release. His son received a sentence of 20 years in federal prison on June 25, 2025, also followed by five years of supervised release.
"There is no parole in the federal system," emphasized United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal from the Southern District of Iowa. The case was investigated by several law enforcement agencies including the Lee County Narcotics Task Force and the Keokuk Police Department.
