The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has expressed approval for the recent markup of the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act by the House Armed Services Committee. AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning praised Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) and Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA) for their efforts in crafting the legislation.

Fanning said, "Building the capacity of the defense industrial base is essential to our national security, and H.R. 3838, the Streamlining Procurement for Effective Execution and Delivery and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026, will help enable that growth." He acknowledged the leadership of Rogers and Smith as well as the bipartisan support from committee members in assembling the bill.

The proposals within H.R. 3838 aim to streamline bureaucratic acquisition processes and adjust procurement thresholds. According to Fanning, these measures will lower barriers to entry, strengthen the defense industrial base, and enhance America's defense posture. He emphasized that these are ongoing priorities for AIA members.

Fanning concluded by expressing a commitment to continue working with Congress on transformative legislation that invests in strategic national defense.
