Brazilian national indicted for illegal firearms trafficking in Massachusetts

Leah B. Foley United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts | Department of Justice

A Brazilian national living unlawfully in the Clinton and Framingham areas has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for firearms trafficking. Patrick Rodrigues DeOliveira, 25, faces charges of dealing firearms without a license and conspiracy to engage in such business. He is scheduled for arraignment in federal court on July 30, 2025.

The indictment alleges that between August and September 2024, Rodrigues DeOliveira conspired to acquire firearms in South Carolina and sell them in Massachusetts. In one instance, he allegedly sold a shotgun and a pistol outside a motel in Framingham for $3,500.

If convicted, the charges carry penalties of up to five years imprisonment, three years supervised release, and fines up to $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the indictment along with Bryan DiGirolamo from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; Michael J. Krol from Homeland Security Investigations; and Patricia H. Hyde from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. The Massachusetts State Police and Framingham Police Department provided assistance. Assistant U.S. Attorney John Reynolds is prosecuting the case.

The allegations remain unproven until established beyond reasonable doubt in court.
