Jon Talkington, a 36-year-old resident of New Martinsville, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to soliciting child pornography. The admission came after law enforcement received a cyber tip from a social media platform about suspicious computer activity involving child pornography images.
Investigators found that Talkington had uploaded images and videos containing child pornography to the social media site. He did this in an effort to obtain more illicit material from other users on the platform.
Talkington could face a prison sentence ranging from five to twenty years. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines along with other statutory factors.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David Perri. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the West Virginia State Police.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James P. Mazzone presided over the proceedings.
