The United States has recognized Vanuatu’s National Day, with official congratulations extended to the people of the Pacific nation. The message from the U.S. government highlighted the recent opening of the U.S. Embassy in Port Vila, describing it as a significant step in bilateral relations.
The statement referenced the December 2024 earthquake that struck Vanuatu, noting that the United States continues to support recovery efforts and remains committed to assisting with resilience initiatives.
"The opening of the U.S. Embassy in Port Vila last July marked a new chapter in our partnership. In the wake of the devastating December 2024 earthquake in Vanuatu, the United States stands with the ni-Vanuatu people in recovery and resilience. We remain committed to strengthening our partnership in the years ahead," read part of the message.
"As you celebrate this important occasion, we look forward to deepening the close and collaborative friendship between our two countries," according to U.S. officials.
The relationship between both nations is managed through diplomatic channels overseen by relevant bureaus within the U.S. Department of State.
