The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the launch of a new nationwide campaign aimed at recruiting individuals to join U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as federal law enforcement agents. The initiative, called “Defend the Homeland,” seeks to bring in applicants who are committed to removing criminal illegal aliens from communities across the United States.
“Your country is calling you to serve at ICE. In the wake of the Biden administration’s failed immigration policies, your country needs dedicated men and women of ICE to get the worst of the worst criminals out of our country,” said Secretary Kristi Noem. “This is a defining moment in our nation’s history. Your skills, your experience, and your courage have never been more essential. Together, we must defend the homeland.”
To attract candidates, ICE is offering several incentives for new recruits. These include a signing bonus that can reach up to $50,000, options for student loan repayment and forgiveness, 25% Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agents, Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUI) for Enforcement Removal Operations (ERO) Deportation Officers, and enhanced retirement benefits.
The recruitment drive is supported by funding provided through recent legislation known as the One Big Beautiful Bill. As part of this effort, ICE will distribute recruitment materials such as posters in major cities, on college campuses, at job fairs, and within law enforcement networks beginning this week.
