Two Bronx men receive federal sentences for multi-state bank fraud scheme

A New York man has been sentenced to federal prison for his involvement in a bank fraud scheme that spanned several states and affected dozens of individuals and businesses, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

Jaymark Larios, 23, of Bronx, New York, received a sentence of 24 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $93,200 in restitution. Larios pleaded guilty on March 6, 2025, to conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Paul Keenan, 54, also of Bronx, New York, was previously sentenced on June 23, 2025. He received the same sentence—24 months in prison and three years of supervised release—after pleading guilty on February 27, 2025.

Court records indicate that the group operated across multiple states during 2023 and early 2024. They recruited individuals and collected personal information such as Social Security numbers and banking details. The conspirators also obtained business names and banking data from nearly two dozen companies. This information was used to produce fake identification documents and checks.

According to court presentations, members of the conspiracy took their recruits to banks in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, and other locations where they cashed fraudulent checks created by the group. In total, at least 28 people and 20 businesses were impacted.

The scheme targeted banks for about $143,000 overall; the conspirators succeeded in defrauding 22 banks out of approximately $93,200.

Assistant United States Attorney Christine Lowell prosecuted the cases. Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation with help from the East Providence Police Department and support from the Portsmouth Police Department.
