A Wainwright resident, Robert Segevan, 31, was arrested by the FBI on charges related to alleged child exploitation offenses. The arrest follows an investigation into claims that Segevan attempted to entice minors in his community for sexual contact and solicited sexually explicit images from them through a digital messaging application.
According to court documents, the North Slope Borough Police Department received a complaint on October 22, 2024, from a 15-year-old minor who reported that Segevan had requested sexually explicit pictures via a messaging app. Two additional minors also allegedly received similar requests. The minor stated that Segevan began contacting them in 2023 and continued to do so even after being blocked by creating new accounts.
On November 7, 2024, the police department received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) indicating that an account linked to Segevan was flagged for child sexual abuse material. This tip included details of Segevan asking another minor to meet for sexual contact.
Further investigation led law enforcement to review search warrant returns from two of Segevan’s usernames on November 14, 2024. Authorities identified several sexually explicit images sent from another minor victim. On December 24, 2024, police executed a search warrant at Segevan’s residence in Wainwright and seized electronic devices that are still under examination.
On June 30, 2025, the FBI received another complaint alleging that Segevan continued harassing minors in Wainwright for pictures of their bodies.
Segevan faces one count each of receipt of child pornography, attempted enticement of a minor, possession of child pornography, and attempted production of child pornography. If convicted, he could receive between 15 years and life in prison. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutory factors.
