Christmas preparations are underway at the White House, with President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump inviting Americans from all states and territories to participate in the annual holiday celebrations as volunteers or performers.
Applications have opened for individuals interested in helping decorate the White House for Christmas or performing during holiday open houses. The deadline to apply is Friday, September 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM ET. Those selected will be notified by Monday, October 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM ET.
"Americans from every U.S. state and territory are invited to apply for the opportunity to assist with decorating at the White House or showcase their talents as a performer at the holiday open houses. Starting today, applications are open for those interested in volunteering for the 2025 Christmas Season."
Individuals applying to volunteer as decorators must be at least 18 years old and submit individual applications; group submissions will not be accepted. Decorating activities are scheduled for the week of November 24 through November 30, 2025.
Performers and musical groups—including school bands, choirs, and entertainers—are also encouraged to apply for a chance to perform during December's holiday open houses.
"Please note that all selected volunteers are responsible for their individual travel, accommodations, and personal expenses."
