A Fayetteville man has pleaded guilty to charges related to embezzling funds from the U.S. Postal Service. Robert Raquan Patterson, 29, admitted in court to misappropriating postal funds and making false entries and reports in government records.
Court documents show that Patterson worked as a sales and services distribution associate at the Evergreen Post Office. He was responsible for managing the office’s finances and had access to its financial systems. Between November 1, 2022, and July 30, 2024, Patterson issued 129 postal money orders for his own benefit and falsely reported debit and credit card payments tied to these transactions. The fraudulent activity led to losses of at least $74,735 for the U.S. Postal Service. The stolen money was used by Patterson for personal expenses such as hotels, flights, and cash withdrawals.
Patterson pleaded guilty to one count each of misappropriation of postal funds and making false entries and reports. He faces up to 240 months in prison when he is sentenced on August 7, 2025.
