Deandre Miles, 30, of Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his guilty plea in the shooting death of Davon Fuller. The sentencing took place on August 1, 2025, in Superior Court. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the outcome.
Miles pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter while armed and felony destruction of property on February 28, 2025. Judge Rainey Brandt ordered that Miles serve a concurrent sentence of 12 months for the destruction of property charge alongside the manslaughter term.
The case stems from an incident on October 16, 2023. According to government evidence presented in court, Miles and Fuller had an argument inside a store at Hechinger Mall located on the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue NE. Although they initially left without further incident, they encountered each other again inside another business at the mall and resumed arguing. The dispute continued outside where Miles drew a gun and Fuller produced a knife. Despite Fuller telling Miles to stop following him, Miles continued behind him throughout the mall before shooting Fuller five times. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to several parts of his body and was pronounced dead after attempts to save his life failed.
Miles was arrested on December 27, 2023, and has remained in custody since then.
Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in announcing the sentence.
“In announcing the sentence,” said U.S. Attorney Pirro and Chief Smith, “U.S. Attorney Pirro and Chief Smith commended the work of those who investigated the case from the Metropolitan Police Department. They also expressed appreciation for the work of those who handled the cases at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including Paralegal Specialist Lashone Samuels, Victim/Witness Advocate Jennifer Clark.” They added: “Finally, they commended the work of Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah C. Santiago, who investigated and prosecuted the case.”
