Lawrence Jordan, 44, of the District of Columbia, was sentenced to 27 months in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Jordan pleaded guilty to the charge on June 17, 2025. In addition to his prison sentence, U.S. District Court Judge Randolph D. Moss ordered him to serve three years of supervised release.
Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Washington Field Division and Chief Pamela A. Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) joined in announcing the sentencing.
According to court documents, on November 23, 2023, MPD officers responded to a report of aggressive panhandling on the 1300 block of H Street NE at approximately 6:16 a.m. An officer recognized Jordan as being wanted for an indecent exposure offense from a week prior and arrested him for lewd, indecent, and obscene acts.
During a more thorough search at the First District station, officers found a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic firearm hidden under Jordan’s knee brace. The weapon had one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.
Jordan has previous convictions including second degree assault, fleeing, and driving while revoked in Maryland in 2009 for which he served an 18-month sentence. He also has a conviction from Virginia in 2010 for being a felon in possession of a firearm as well as 35 prior arrests.
The case was investigated by ATF and MPD and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Gold.
