Eric Jason Franklin, a 53-year-old resident of Okemah, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to time served for illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition. The sentencing was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Franklin pleaded guilty on April 17, 2025, to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The case followed an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Okfuskee County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities reported that on July 15, 2024, Franklin was found with a pump action shotgun and 15 rounds of ammunition after previously being convicted of a felony offense.
The sentencing hearing took place before Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Franklin will remain in custody under the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a designated facility managed by the United States Bureau of Prisons to serve his sentence without parole.
"
