A Huntington resident has admitted to a federal firearms offense related to drug distribution. Robert Craig Hatfield, also known as “Bobby,” age 48, pleaded guilty on August 11, 2025, to carrying a firearm during and in relation to the distribution of fentanyl.
Court documents and statements indicate that on February 11, 2025, Hatfield sold both a SCCY 9mm pistol and about 4.5 grams of heroin to a confidential informant for $340. The transaction took place at Hatfield’s residence in Huntington after he had arranged it in advance.
Hatfield is set for sentencing on November 24, 2025. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years up to life in prison, as well as up to five years of supervised release and a possible $250,000 fine.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston stated: “I commend the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cabell County Sheriff's Office.”
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor is prosecuting the case.
The prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice that combines resources from its Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). The operation focuses on fighting illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
