A United Kingdom citizen has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to enticing a minor for sexual activity. Jack Edward Coles, 40, received a sentence of 188 months in prison followed by 20 years of supervised release. The sentencing was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga.
Court records show that in October 2024, Coles met a 14-year-old boy through a dating app and arranged for an Uber to bring the minor to his hotel. After the boy arrived, Coles engaged in sexual acts with him. Authorities reported that Coles tried to arrange further meetings with the victim in October and November 2024, as well as February 2025. In November 2024, he also enticed the minor to send sexually explicit photographs.
The case was announced by United States Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne and Acting Special Agent in Charge José R. Figueroa of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Miami.
HSI Miami led the investigation with help from the City of Miami Police Department and the State Attorney’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division. Assistant United States Attorney Dwayne Williams prosecuted the case.
The prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to fight child sexual exploitation and abuse online. The project brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute those who exploit children over the Internet and identify victims.
