Leah B. Foley United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts | Department of Justice
Jake Miller, a Natick resident and owner of Kostas Roofing, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for tax evasion. The sentencing took place in Boston before U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy. In addition to the prison term, Miller will serve one year of supervised release and must pay $449,329 in restitution.
Miller, 42, pleaded guilty in February 2025 to a single count of tax evasion. According to court documents, he operated his roofing business under the alias “Paul Kostas.” From 2013 through 2021, Miller cashed checks from customers and deposited the money into his personal accounts without reporting the income or filing tax returns during those years. Authorities determined that Miller concealed at least $1.6 million in business income from the IRS over this period, resulting in about $450,000 in unpaid taxes.
