Federal inmate indicted for possessing weapon at Schuylkill facility

A federal grand jury has indicted Marco Deputy, 30, of Frederick, Maryland, for allegedly possessing a weapon while incarcerated at the Schuylkill Federal Correctional Facility. The indictment was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on August 13, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that "the indictment alleges that on December 2, 2024, Deputy, an inmate at the Schuylkill Federal Correctional Facility, possessed a prohibited object, a sharpened aluminum weapon."

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Lloyd is leading the prosecution.

If convicted under federal law for this offense, Deputy faces up to five years in prison as well as supervised release and a fine. Sentencing would be determined by a judge who considers federal statutes and sentencing guidelines.

Authorities emphasized that indictments are not findings of guilt: "Indictments and Criminal Informations are only allegations. All persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court."
