Jamestown man convicted on federal drug and gun charges

A federal jury has found Trenton Grant, a 31-year-old resident of Jamestown, New York, guilty on multiple counts related to drug trafficking and firearms offenses. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo in Buffalo.

Grant was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. He was also found guilty of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. These charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison, with the possibility of life imprisonment.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Johsua A. Violanti and Stacey Jacovetti prosecuted the case. According to their statements, the investigation began in May 2023 when the Olean Police Department started looking into Grant’s suspected drug activities. On July 25, 2023, police executed search warrants on Grant’s vehicle and person, leading to the seizure of approximately 71 grams of methamphetamine, five grams of cocaine, about four grams of fentanyl, as well as a loaded stolen firearm and ammunition from his car trunk.

At the time of his arrest, Grant was on parole following a prior felony conviction for assault with intent to cause serious injury using a weapon in February 2016. This status made it illegal for him to possess any firearms.

The investigation involved cooperation between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), led by Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino for the New York Field Division, and the Olean Police Department under Chief Ron Richardson.

Sentencing is set for February 4, 2026 before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr., who oversaw the trial.
