Kevin P. Davidson, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama

A federal jury in Montgomery has found Jeffery Wayne Parker, 52, of Troy, Alabama, guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The verdict was announced on August 12, 2025.

Court records and evidence from the trial showed that on October 10, 2023, deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office went to Parker’s home with a search warrant. When officers arrived, Parker tried to leave through the back door but stopped after deputies ordered him to do so. Law enforcement then saw a handgun in a holster on his waist.

A search of Parker’s vehicle parked at the residence led to the discovery of another 21 firearms in the trunk. These included 14 shotguns and rifles and seven handguns. Due to previous felony convictions, Parker is prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.

Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson stated: “Today, Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson announced that a federal jury in Montgomery has convicted 52-year-old Jeffery Wayne Parker, of Troy, Alabama, for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The jury returned its verdict on August 12, 2025.”

After this conviction, Parker could face up to 15 years in federal prison. Federal sentences do not include parole.

The case was investigated by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorneys Paul Markovits and J. Patrick Lamb prosecuted the case.
