Global tech trade association ITI has unveiled a set of strategic cybersecurity policy recommendations aimed at aiding the White House National Cyber Director, Sean Cairncross, and the Trump Administration. The recommendations are designed to bolster America's cyber defenses, streamline regulatory processes, and enhance collaboration between public and private sectors.
John Miller, ITI's Senior Vice President of Policy and General Counsel, emphasized the necessity of cooperation between industry and government to tackle cybersecurity challenges. "Tech understands that neither industry nor government can tackle current and future cybersecurity challenges independently," he said. He further noted that ITI’s new recommendations offer a "results-driven action plan" to assist Director Cairncross and his team at the ONCD in countering threats efficiently.
The roadmap titled "A Roadmap for Results: ITI’s Strategic Recommendations for Driving American Cybersecurity" highlights four strategic priorities for the Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD). These include empowering ONCD to coordinate federal cyber policy, cutting red tape by deploying AI for cyber defense, leveraging public-private collaboration as a strategic asset, and defending against emerging threats by securing stable funding for vulnerability management programs.

Miller also pointed out that with over 80% of U.S. critical infrastructure in private hands, effective cyber policy relies on early collaboration with industry to build trusted partnerships necessary to stay ahead of adversaries.
