Andre Rushing, 23, of Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to 108 months in federal prison for his involvement in a series of armed carjackings and robberies that took place in March 2023. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

Rushing pleaded guilty on March 17, 2025, to charges of carjacking and brandishing a firearm during a violent crime. According to court records, he admitted to four separate incidents involving carjackings and robberies. Authorities arrested Rushing and his co-defendants in Fairfax County on March 30, 2023, after they attempted to evade police while driving a stolen vehicle.

U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras also ordered Rushing to serve five years of supervised release following his prison term.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Reid Davis from the Washington Field Office Criminal Division and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela A. Smith joined in announcing the sentence.

The spree began on March 6, 2023, when Rushing and co-defendant Javon Roach carjacked a man at gunpoint on Maryland Avenue. Surveillance video captured both individuals during the incident.

On March 7, police arrested Rushing for gun possession near Anacostia Road SE. Officers found him close to an untraceable “ghost gun” with a high-capacity magazine loaded with ammunition. Shortly before his arrest, Rushing appeared in an Instagram Live video holding what looked like a handgun with an extended magazine.

Further incidents followed: On March 16, Rushing and Roach robbed a food delivery worker at gunpoint on Benning Road NE before fleeing in another stolen vehicle; the next day they robbed three construction workers on Anacostia Road SE; then on March 26 they carjacked another vehicle at a gas station on Minnesota Avenue NE.

On March 30, Fairfax County police located one of the stolen vehicles at Tyson’s Mall and set up surveillance. When officers approached the suspects as they tried to flee traffic along Leesburg Pike, Roach crashed into several cars—including a police vehicle—before running away on foot while Rushing was apprehended inside the Audi Q5. A loaded handgun was recovered from the glovebox near where Rushing sat. He was taken into custody by FBI agents and U.S. Marshals before being transferred to local authorities.

Roach received a sentence of over nineteen years (228 months) for his role in these crimes earlier this year.

The case involved investigations by multiple agencies including the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, Metropolitan Police Department, and Fairfax County Police Department. Prosecution was handled by Trial Attorney Gaelin Bernstein and Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Duvall.

"The spree only stopped when Rushing and his co-defendants were arrested in Fairfax County on March 30, 2023, as they attempted to flee police in a carjacked vehicle," said officials as part of their statement.
