A former Army soldier has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing a child and attempting to obtain a sexually explicit photograph from another minor. Cedrick Demon Robinson, 42, of Oxford, Mississippi, was convicted by a jury in the Southern District of Georgia on charges of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child and Attempted Production of a Visual Depiction of a Minor Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct.
U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker handed down the sentence on August 12, 2025. In addition to life imprisonment, Robinson was ordered to pay a $50,000 fine and $10,200 in special assessments.
Courtroom testimony revealed that Robinson abused a nine-year-old child in December 2013 by fondling the child's genitals. In 2017, he requested that another child, then fifteen years old, send him a sexually explicit photograph via text message.
“Protecting children from those who would abuse them and seeking justice for sexual predators remains one of our District’s highest priorities,” said U.S. Attorney Margaret E. Heap for the Southern District of Georgia. “We will continue to seek justice for those who would victimize our most vulnerable citizens.”
"This conviction represents a decisive step toward justice for the victims and underscores our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the vulnerable,” said Special Agent in Charge Ryan O’Connor with the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division at Fort Stewart. “We’re proud of the collaborative efforts with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Georgia, whose partnership was instrumental in securing this outcome."
The investigation was conducted by the Army Criminal Investigation Division at Fort Stewart. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Michael Z. Spitulnik and Darron J. Hubbard from the Southern District of Georgia.
