Parkersburg man receives over eight years in prison for drug offenses

Ronald Robinson, a 55-year-old resident of Parkersburg, was sentenced to eight years and six months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for distributing methamphetamine and violating the terms of his supervised release.

Court records show that on October 15, 2024, Robinson sold methamphetamine to an individual in Parkersburg. He admitted as part of his plea agreement to two additional sales of methamphetamine in the same month and city. The following day, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a motel room where Robinson was staying. Officers seized approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine, over seven grams of a mixture containing both methamphetamine and fentanyl, and $501 that included marked currency from controlled purchases.

At the time these offenses occurred, Robinson was already serving supervised release stemming from previous convictions: one in July 2004 for conspiracy to distribute cocaine base (crack), and another in March 2017 for conspiracy involving heroin distribution. Both convictions were issued by the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Four years of his new sentence are attributed to committing another crime while under supervision.

"Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the Parkersburg Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force, the Police Department, and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office."

"Senior United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr. imposed the sentence. Assistant United States Attorneys Jennifer D. Gordon and Francesca C. Rollo prosecuted the case."
