A Guatemalan citizen, Domingo Gonzalez Perez, has been sentenced to 60 days in prison and will be removed from the United States following his conviction for illegal reentry. The sentencing was announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
United States District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan handed down the sentence on August 20, 2025. Court records show that Gonzalez Perez, age 43, had previously attempted to enter or entered the U.S. illegally on four occasions and had been present in the country without authorization since at least October 2024 after a prior removal.
Gonzalez Perez was first arrested by local law enforcement on October 9, 2024, for domestic assault. While awaiting resolution of that case and with an active federal arrest warrant, he was arrested again in April 2025 by Pennsylvania State Police in Bedford County on charges including driving under the influence and evading arrest.
He has remained in custody since his April arrest and will be transferred to immigration authorities for removal after completing his federal sentence.
Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson prosecuted the case for the government.
Acting United States Attorney Rivetti recognized Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Pennsylvania State Police for their roles in investigating the case.
"This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, combat illegal immigration, and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime."
