U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry have detained a man wanted in North Texas on felony warrants related to sexual assault of a child and drug charges.

Port Director Liliana Flores commented on the arrest, stating, “Our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain their vigilance and late this week apprehended a traveler wanted on two separate felony warrants for sex and drug-related charges. These kinds of apprehensions exemplify our officers’ relentless pursuit of our border security mission.”

The incident took place on August 21 when Victor Morales, a 31-year-old U.S. citizen, was referred for secondary inspection at the Del Rio International Bridge. During this process, biometric verification through law enforcement databases confirmed that Morales had an outstanding felony warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child from the White Settlement, Texas Police Department and another felony warrant for drug possession issued by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Morales was subsequently handed over to Del Rio Police Department officers for transport to jail pending adjudication of the warrants.

The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) is used by law enforcement agencies to share information about outstanding warrants across various offenses. Previous arrests made by CBP using NCIC data have included individuals wanted for serious crimes such as homicide, money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual child abuse, fraud, larceny, and military desertion.

Authorities remind that criminal charges are allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

CBP is recognized as the nation’s largest law enforcement organization with over 65,000 personnel responsible for protecting U.S. borders on land, air, and sea while enforcing laws regarding travel and trade.
