A New Orleans man has been sentenced for his role in a scheme involving fraudulent vehicle purchases. Kenneth Richmond, 65, was given a four-year prison term on August 14, 2025, after being convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Court records show that in 2022, Richmond and his daughter Kendra Walker used false and stolen personal information to buy vehicles from a local dealership. The cars were financed through a bank, but several loans defaulted. The scheme resulted in losses of about $124,031.41 for the dealership. Richmond used someone else's name, date of birth, and Social Security number without permission to buy a Dodge Challenger in July 2022.
United States District Judge Barry W. Ashe also ordered Richmond to pay $58,852 in restitution to the victim and imposed a $200 special assessment fee. After serving his prison sentence, Richmond will be on supervised release for three years.
At the time of this crime, Richmond was already on federal supervised release for an earlier fraud conviction. On August 13, 2025, United States District Judge Sarah S. Vance revoked his supervised release and sentenced him to an additional two years in prison. Both sentences will run consecutively for a total of six years.
Judge Ashe scheduled sentencing for Kendra Walker on September 25, 2025.
The investigation involved the United States Secret Service, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Louisiana Department of Public Safety. Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni is prosecuting the case.
