Palmetto man pleads guilty to federal fentanyl distribution conspiracy

Traveous Anderson, a 39-year-old resident of Palmetto, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute at least 40 grams of a fentanyl mixture. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. Due to a prior conviction, Anderson faces an enhanced minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison, with the possibility of life imprisonment. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.

Court records show that between April and May 2024, a confidential source working with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) carried out several fentanyl transactions involving Anderson. During this period, Anderson conspired with others to distribute fentanyl and possessed more than 40 grams of the substance with intent to distribute it. At the time these offenses occurred, Anderson was on federal supervised release following an earlier conviction for distributing fentanyl.

Alexis Soto Escalante, who was charged as a co-defendant in the case, previously pleaded guilty and received a sentence of five years and ten months in prison on June 18, 2025.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Chang is prosecuting the case.
