Former Kissimmee police officer convicted for receiving child sexual abuse material

A federal jury has convicted Dariel Javier Quiles-Davila, a former officer with the Kissimmee Police Department, of receiving child sexual abuse material. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. Quiles-Davila, 27, is facing a minimum of five years and up to twenty years in federal prison. His sentencing is set for December 16, 2025.

Evidence presented at trial showed that in October 2023, while serving as a police officer, Quiles-Davila met a child victim during his duties. After obtaining the child's contact information, he began communicating with the victim using his personal cellphone and social media accounts. He also sent money to the child and solicited sexually explicit photos and videos.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kissimmee Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Sartoian is prosecuting the case.

"This is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse," according to information from authorities. "Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims."
