Hartshorne man pleads guilty to firearm and explosives charges in federal court

A Hartshorne resident has pleaded guilty to federal firearm and explosives charges, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Kelly Von Morck, 35, entered a guilty plea to two counts of unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and one count of user of a controlled substance in possession of an explosive.

According to the superseding indictment, on October 20, 2024, Von Morck knowingly possessed several firearms—including a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a .22 revolver, a 16-gauge shotgun, a .38 caliber revolver, and a .30-06 caliber rifle—as well as 559 rounds of assorted ammunition. All items had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce. The indictment also states that on June 26, 2025, Von Morck was found with another 9mm semi-automatic pistol and 82 rounds of ammunition.

Additionally, on October 20, 2024, Von Morck was alleged to have knowingly possessed an explosive that had also been shipped and transported in interstate commerce.

The investigation involved multiple agencies: the Hartshorne Police Department, Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted the plea and ordered completion of a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after consideration of federal sentencing guidelines and statutory factors.

Von Morck remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly represented the government in this case.
